Dante set for Manchester United....but not yet!
David Moyes is seeking to put the disappointment of the summer behind him by aggressively pursuing a host of new signings before the end of January. An official bid in excess of £37m is set to be presented to Chelsea in return for their attacking midfielder, Juan Mata, and, it seems, plans are afoot to strengthen United's shaky defence with a move for 30 year old Brazil centre-half, Dante.
The powerful defender has been a regular in Pep Guardiola's starting eleven, but given the player's age, the right offer will tempt the Munich hierarchy. Despite initial murmurings in Brazil that the deal was already done, it appears that negotiations between all parties have not yet concluded. Fox Sport Brazil journalist Gustavo Villani reports the player as saying:
"I'm not yet "a United player", I am still at Munich but appreciate #MUFC's interest. We will have a decision by the end of Jan."[TRANSLATION]
There is no word yet on the possible fee, but with Nemanja Vidic's suspension and the aging Rio Ferdinand's ongoing injury woes, David Moyes would almost certainly like to seal Dante's transfer quickly.
